Mason-Dixon Warrior Adventures (MDWA) is a 501(c3) organization founded in 2018. It all began in 2011 with a group of like-minded individuals getting together, in cooperation with members of organizations such as Trout Unlimited and Safari Club international. The first joint activity was a pheasant hunt for Warriors being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Washington, DC In September 2011 and grew from there.
M-DWA is focused on the therapeutic rehabilitation and healing of active-duty military and veterans through outdoor hunting and fishing adventures. To accomplish this goal, we host a variety of outings that provide healing experiences for Warriors. The activities we currently host include a Fly-Fishing Outing, a Spring Gobbler Hunt, a Walleye Fishing Trip, an Upland Game Bird Hunt, a Trophy Deer Hunt, an Exotic Species Hunt, a Waterfowl Hunt, and a Long-Distance Shoot.
M-DWA also works with other organizations, such as Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. and Trout Unlimited to provide opportunities for Warriors involved in their respective programs. Support for these activities, such as transportation, housing, meals, equipment, and supplies are provided by a variety of organizations and individuals that donate time, funding, and other resources to M-DWA.
Warriors are principally selected through an established relationship with military and veteran’s treatment facilities professional staff as well as local veteran’s organizations and assistant groups. Selection is based on an individual’s medical status, treatment schedule, personal interests and previous experience.
